LiquidEye Water Housing Systems pretty much has the entire line of the Canon and Nikon DSLR’s covered for you. So whether you are a beginner or a seasoned photographer at LiquidEye we have a waterhousing solution to suit your needs, building reliable, durable and cost effective surf sport camera housing systems. Rock solid yet light as a feather.

Technology & Innovations

Liquid eye water housings are modularly designed. A key advantage of this fully integrated modular approach is that we are able to offer our most innovative and advanced features across our full range of housings. This way you can select to add those features that are important to you and that are within your budget.

Additionally, our modular housing design incorporates elements such as control access points molded in place, so that upgrades are easily installed in the event that you later decide that you want to incrementally add additional features to your housing.

For the last decade, Liquid eye has continued to lead the way in splash water housing technology with such innovations as…

Liquid eye Ultra-Light, Ultra-Strong Epoxy
Sandwich Core Wall Construction

We layer epoxy resin, fiberglass and a very light core material using a state of the art “sandwiching technique” to maximize strength and minimize weight and providing you with the lightest, strongest water housing that money can buy.

This same type of technology is used in the aeronautical industry and for fabricating Formula One racing car bodies.

Pistol Grip

Liquid eye Two-Stage AF Trigger

We use a pistol grip with a proprietary trigger system. We have two models of pistol grips; the PG4 and the PG3. Both have the same grip shape, and differ in the functionality of the trigger

The PG4 pistol grip has a single stage trigger. This trigger is intended for preset manual focus shooting such as with extra-wide angle and short prime lenses up to 50mm. Using a pre-focus (hyper-focal) mode increases your ability to react quickly and you will also get a higher frame rate on your DSLR in this mode. What this means is that you get a more productive photo shoot, you are less likely to miss the action and you get longer sequences.

The PG3 pistol grip has a dual stage trigger that mimics perfectly the two stages of the shutter button on your DLSR. The initial stage of the trigger stroke activates the AF and the final stage of the trigger stroke activates the shutter.

The initial AF portion of the trigger stroke has been lengthened relative the shutter release portion of the trigger stroke to give you greater AF control while swimming, and this helps you avoid accidental miss-fires when your attention is on getting in position or while you are going through the spin cycle if you get caught inside.

Liquid eye Ergonomic Zoom Control

This zoom control system is simple to install, easy to use and its ergonomic design allows you to operate the camera in a manner somewhat similar to that you would outside of the housing.

Liquid Eye’s zoom control is mounted on the lower left on the front of the housing and not on the lens port, this has 2 key advantages. First, it saves you money, since all you need to do to change from one lens to another is to change the gear sleeve which is on the lens and in some cases you can use the same gear sleeve on different lenses. It is a lot less expensive to change a gear sleeve than it is to change a port with the zoom built into it. Second, the position of the gear lever is very ergonomic and enables easy zoom control with your left hand.

An innovative gearing system makes this system adaptable to most of the zoom lenses for all of the major brands.

With zoom control you have greater freedom to frame the action for optimal results. Furthermore, you are able to shoot longer sequences, zooming out as your subject approaches the camera. The bottom line is that you get a more productive photo shoot.

Liquid Eye Nested Closure Nuts

The days of having to keep bags of spare nuts and worrying about lacerations from wing nut flanges are long gone. Our nested hex-nuts won’t get lost and won’t cut you if your housing hits you while in the turbulence of the impact zone. Our hex-nuts are made of marine grade stainless steel and will not corrode throughout the life of your water-housing.

Liquid Eye Ergonomic Design

All of our water housings are designed for ease of use and our smooth contours eliminate hard edges which helps prevent accidental injuries in the impact zone when the going gets rough.

Our pistol grips and zoom control are designed for comfort, ease of use, light weight, strength and durability.

All of our controls are designed for maximum functionality, durability and safety. We use only marine grade stainless steel for our push buttons, hex-nuts, and screws.

Liquid Eye water-housing sandwich-core wall construction is ultra strong, ultra-light, compactly designed with no hard edges. These features make our water-housings both easy and safe to use.

Liquid Eye Ergo Pistol Grip

Our innovative ergonomic pistol grip comes standard on all of our E model housings and is an add on for our Pro models. The pistol grip fits comfortably in your hand; it’s lightweight, durable and detachable.

The ergonomic design is comfortable and functional, making slight angle adjustments simple and strain-free. We texture the surface so that the pistol grip won’t slip in your hand.

Pistol Grip

Liquid Eye uses a proprietary sandwich core construction method to reduce the weight of our pistol grips. Our lightweight pistol grips coupled with our water-housing sandwich core wall construction means our water-housings our ultra light without compromising strength and durability. This reduces your fatigue without sacrificing the sturdiness of your water-housing.

Our pistol grips can be easily removed; they are attached with 4 marine grade stainless steel screws. The key advantages of a removable pistol grip are reducing packing volume for ease of travel or replacing the pistol grip with different accessories such as a pole or remote control mount plate.

Another feature of our pistol grips is that our proprietary shutter / AF control does not require a through the wall hole for cables, thus eliminating the risk of leakage from that point on the water-housing.

Finally our pistol grips are designed so that routine maintenance and cleaning is easy to do.

Accessories

Liquid Eye also makes accessories such as pole, remote control (cable or radio) and different fixation plates for mounting your water-housing where you want it to expand your creative freedom.

E Model Front Plates

There are different models of front plates to choose from the BF-al/s, the BF-al/l and the BF-al/z.

The BF-al/s is our basic front plate, and our least expensive one, it is made out of acrylic sheet stock. Its port can accommodate lenses such as the Canon 24 mm f2.8 up to the Canon 50 mm f1.8 or equivalent size lenses.

The BF-al/l has a slightly longer port and is designed for small and medium tele-lenses such as Canon 85 mm, 100 mm, 200 mm or equivalent size lenses.

The BF-al/z is our zoom front plate port and is designed for many existing zoom lenses from Canon, Nikon and some others brands. As on the pro-model some zoom lenses are eligible and some are not. Please ask us for more details

Pro Model Liquid Eye Lens Ports

Liquid Eye’s lens ports are constructed using a proprietary epoxy sandwich core technology, which means that our lens ports are both lightweight and strong.

Our lens ports screw into position enabling fast, easy change over so that you will be able to mount Canon (or equivalent size) lenses from the 15 mm fish eye until the 300 mm f4!

Furthermore, for an additional fee our lens ports can be custom modified to accept lenses other than those listed in our lens port reference sheet; contact us regarding your specific lens.

All Liquid Eye lens ports incorporate a 4 mm thick acrylic port element that is 20 times more impact resistant than glass. Acrylic is optically transparent at a fraction of the weight of glass. Clearly, acrylic is the way to go.

Every Liquid Eye lens port comes with a primary o-ring and a spare o-ring.

Liquid Eye Dome Ports

Dome ports enable you to shoot ultra-wide angle lenses without vignetting the image.

Our standard domes are 10 cm/4 inches, however we offer the option to go to 16-20 cm/6-8 inches for custom domes. Larger domes are used for above/below water split-frame shots.

All of our dome ports undergo thorough inspection for deformations and blemishes. Only dome ports that are 100% deformation and blemish free are accepted; ensuring that our dome ports provide images that are free of aberrations.
